Frequently Asked Questions (from Parents and Guardians)
How can my daughter join one of your programs?
Thanks for your interest! Your daughter may be eligible to participate in one of our programs if:
--You live in the East Silver Spring/Takoma Park, MD area;
--Your child in is the third through 12th grade and attends one of the schools we currently serve (Arcola Elemantary School, Broad Acres Elementary School, Kemp Mill Elememtary School, Oakview Elementary, Rolling Terrace Elementary, Eastern Middle School, Silver Spring International, Takoma Park Middle School, Sligo Middle School, White Oak Middle School, Chelsea High School, Blair High School, John F. Kennedy High School, or Northwood High School);
--Referrals are made to our program by the guidance counselors and teachers in these schools. Please contact your child's guidance counselor or teacher, who will contact us regarding your interest. Participation depends on certain criteria, and whether there are openings in the programs.
How much does it cost to participate in one of your programs?
There is no charge for participating in any of our programs.
My daughter is already a member of one of your programs. How can I get in touch with her program leader?
To contact your daughter's program leader, you may call the Community Bridges office at 301-585-7155, or send an e-mail to info@communitybridges-md.org. Be sure to tell us your daughter's name, school, and grade.
My daughter is in one of your programs and forgot to bring her field trip permission slip home to be signed. How can I get another permission slip?
Click here to print out a blank permission slip (Spanish version). Please complete and sign it, and have your daughter return it to her program leader. For your child's safety and security, she may not participate in a field trip unless we have your written permission for her to do so.
My daughter is a program participant, and I'd like to get more involved, too. What can I do?
Parents and other caregivers are welcome to get involved in our programs. Some ideas are assisting the program leaders, helping with transportation, being a chaperone on a field trip, and helping to plan a Family Event.
